Wellpro Overbalance Tubing Conveyed Perforation Solutions Creates Pathway from Reservoir into Wellbore Using 7” 12SPF HMX BH Charges
Background
A Major IOC required to carry out overbalance perforation to access the E1000 and C5200 sands on one of their land wells.
- The deployment was planned as 2 runs due to the almost 2000ft intervals between both sands
- Wellpro TCP Guns were loaded as per client perforation intervals and mobilized to the location along with firing heads and ancillary equipment
Operation
- 7” Guns loaded 12 SPF with HMX Big Hole charges at 30-degree phasing were prepared as per the client-provided intervals
- The guns were made up of 2 hydraulic firing heads with time delay.
- As per safety protocol, sufficient spacers were run on the top gun as well as to separate the upper and lower peroration intervals
- The BHA was run in the well along with Retrievable bypass packers and all other ancillary tools
- On correlating the guns to depth with the Radioactive marker sub, the packer was set and hydraulic pressure was applied to activate the firing heads
Achievements
- The perforating guns detonated at the pre-determined activation pressure and both intervals were perforated simultaneously with sufficient surface indication
- Upon pulling out of the hole, all shots were fired and in scallops.
- A total Interval of 20 feet was perforated with the HMX Big hole charge creating a large entry hole diameter for gravel pack access
Tools
- 7” HMX 12SPF BH guns
- Time delay Hydraulic Firing head
- Vertical shock absorber
