Background

  • A Marginal operator is required to carry out overbalance perforation to access 2 targeted reservoirs on one of their land wells
  • The formation was unconsolidated and thus required that the perforation support Gravel pack placement
  • Wellpro TCP Guns were loaded as per client perforation interval and mobilized to the location along with firing heads and ancillary equipment

Operation

  • 7” Guns loaded 18 SPF with HMX Super Hole charges at XX-degree phasing were prepared as per the client-provided intervals
  • The guns were made up of a Mechanical Firing head with a drop bar firing system
  • As per safety protocol, sufficient spacers were run on the top gun as well as to separate the upper and lower peroration intervals
  • The BHA was run in the well along with other ancillary tools
  • On correlating the guns to depth with the Correlation Pup Joint, the firing bar was dropped from the surface to activate the firing head and detonate the guns.

Achievements

  • The perforating guns were positioned on depth in both runs and detonated  successfully with sufficient surface indication
  • Upon pulling out of the hole, all shots were fired and in scallop.
  • Total Interval of 40 feet was perforated with the HMX Super hole charge creating large entry hole and deep penetration for maximum reservoir production

Tools

  • 7” 12 SPF HMX SH guns
  • Model  II-D Mechanical Firing Head
  • 3-1/2” Balanced Isolation
